About Us

So, who are we? An APRM (Association for the Protection of Rural Metchosin) sub-committee consisting of long-term members who care deeply about a sustainable future for rural Metchosin and a safer and more pleasant workplace for firefighters.

This website was created in February 2026 to collect and share factual information obtained from several primary sources. APRM volunteers have combed through hundreds of pages of information to provide a single information hub for the convenience of fellow Metchosin residents and taxpayers. Editorial comment has been added to guide readers to and through the source material. Comments in red font and/or highlighting has been added to bring reader’s attention to key issues and to assist in identifying inaccuracies or misinformation.

By making key information accessible it will be easier to make informed decisions regarding the largest and most expensive infrastructure project that has been proposed since our community’s incorporation.

We encourage visitors to review every tab, to begin a journey through information that may be difficult or time consuming to locate from primary sources. The Grant Application tab gives context for how an aspirational vision evolved into a “preferred” design and the Tax Impact tab provides context for affordability concerns. The Benchmark tab shows how other regional communities have proceeded with comparable projects. The Council Votes tab documents how each of our Council members has voted on key decisions.

The scale and cost of the currently proposed Firehall replacement project has serious affordability implications that will endure for decades. Local residents deserve the opportunity to fully understand what is being proposed and an opportunity to consider viable options which are more affordable.

Please take some time to review the information under every tab and please share this website as an information resource with others.
